Enjoy complete seclusion in your Lake District Log Cabin set in the centre of Shank Wood with fantastic river views. Situated only 45 minutes from Keswick, Shank Wood Log Cabin is the perfect woodland retreat. Whilst taking a stroll from the cabin along the river banks, keep an eye out for the local wildlife such as Kingfishers, Roe Deer & Otters.
To help reduce our carbon footprint in the cabin, we have added a few eco-friendly touches. The heating is provided by a clean burn wood burner making the cabin a joy in both the winter and the summer. There is a new outdoor bathroom which has hot running water and a flushing loo. An outdoor sink provides running water for cooking, drinking and washing up. The cabin is self catering and the large weber BBQ can cook most foods and boil the kettle. Shank Wood cabin sleeps up to 4 people, with 2 double beds on a split mezzanine floor overlooking the living space. Gretna Green & the Outlet Village are only a further 10 minutes on from Longtown… a great place to go for a spot of shopping close to your Lake District log cabin!
If you head out the other way from your eco friendly log cabins the other local town is Brampton. Similar facilities to Longtown with a Butchers, Spar & local pub… just with a little more character. From Brampton Hadrian’s wall is sign posted should you wish to see some of the beautiful local countryside.
Activities in the Lake District
Our Lake District log cabin is set away from all the hustle & bustle of everyday life but there are some great activities within easy access from the cabin. If you are looking to explore the local countryside a little further perhaps you would like to hire a bike, Bike Seven in Longtown will be able to help you with this or you could bring your own. An alternative way to take in the views is on horse back with pony trekking available at Lads Lodge. Whilst we offer a tranquil, relaxing stay you may be looking for some more adventurous activities to do during your holiday. We are approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from Go Ape! in Grizedale forest, or you could try your hand at some of the water sports available on Lake Windermere.
