Things to do in Brampton

Brampton is a small charming market town that has around 4000 inhabitants.
Great shops include Cranstons the butchers where you can pick up locally sourced cumbrian meat which is great quality.

There is also a local grocery selling fresh vegetables, a health food shop, and a local Co-op for all your needs.

The Famous Cumbrian Antiques Centre is located in Brampton where you can find wonderful antiques.

Things to do in Longtown

Longtown is also a small market town which is steeped in history as it is on the border of Scotland and England. The Solway Firth is located close to Longtown which is popular with bird watchers.

It has a local butchers, bakery called Gretna Bakery, and a fantastic fish and chip shop called the Border Cod which David Cameron visited on his campaign!


Things to do in Carlisle

Only 25 minutes drive from the cabins, Carlisle is your nearest large town and it has plenty of interesting activities to do whilst on your log cabin holiday.

Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery boasts a wide range of features, exhibitions and artefacts, brought together in one impressive museum. They provide a fusion of old and new from the Old Tullie House, a classical grade one listed Jacobean building, to the Border Galleries, full of interactive fun. Children and adults can enjoy hands-on exibihits and games, from firing a Roman weapon to climbing a lifesize Hadrian’s Wall!

Carlisle Castle is over 900 years old and was a constantly updated working fortress until well within living memory.

Displays for the Solway Aviation Museum are found indoors and outdoors. Inside, visitors can study the intriguing exhibits that consist of an air raid shelter, a wartime airfield display, and other informational items regarding aviation. Showcased outside are actual planes and helicopters, including a Vulcan B2 bomber, a Westland helicopter, and an English Electric Lightning. Insightful information is offered during the guided tours.

Visit the beautiful Carlisle Cathedral in the centre of town and learn about its turbulent history and marvel its fantastic stained glass windows.

Shopping & Entertainment

There are plenty of shops in Carlisle including all the high street shops there is a department store called Hoopers where you will find high end fashion clothes.


The Vue Cinema in Carlisle shows all box office films and is located on Botchergate near the centre of town.

Pubs and Restaurants on you log cabin holiday

When you check in you will see that there is a gourmet restaurant on at the reception.

You are able to walk to this restaurant from your cabin, it is around a 30 minute walk along the river or a 5 minute drive.
